St. Thomas Cemetery

The St. Thomas community is very grateful to the church founders who had the foresight and wisdom to establish a cemetery for our church members. We are one of a small minority of churches in the Antiochian Archdiocese to have our own cemetery. It is adjacent to Graceland cemetery (at the south end) on Lakeport Ave in Sioux City. Following is a time line of significant events:

1927 - The initial plot of land was purchased.

1985 - Additional land was purchased to expand the cemetery.

1992 - The Chapel of the Resurrection was built.

1997 - the road was paved.

2004 - a sprinkler system was installed.

The Chapel of the Resurrection

In the center of the cemetery is the Chapel of the Resurrection. It is a small, outdoor, open-air chapel where visitors can sit to rest and pray. On the east wall is a beautiful icon of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. This icon is a constant reminder of our hope in the life to come.

Annual Services

Every Memorial Day weekend we hold a memorial service at the cemetery and bless all the graves.
